It’s Black Music Month! As we hope you already know, June being Black Music Month has its origins in Philadelphia due to the advocacy of Philly’s own Kenny Gamble, Dyana Williams and Ed Wright. We are so grateful for their work in the celebration, appreciation and advancement of Black Music.
NPR Music is commemorating Black Music Month with an all female lineup of Tiny Desk concerts. Most recently, Philly’s own Tierra Whack brought some of the best Philadelphia musicians (and the Philly Phanatic!!!!) to perform with her during her Tiny Desk performance.
