The Legendary Roots Crew recently announced the lineup for Roots Picnic 2023 and it is arguably the most diverse lineup in the festival’s fifteen year history. There’s a little something for every lover of black music. Love classic soul? They’ve got The Isley Brothers and Roy Ayers. Is new school R&B more your flavor? They’ve got Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye. This year’s festival has everything from R&B and Hip Hop to Go Go and Gospel. Of course we can’t forget about the headliners. Backed by The Roots this year will be Diddy and Ms. Lauryn Hill who will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of her seminal album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Podcasts lovers get the opportunity to be up close and personal with popular podcasts including Charlamagne Tha God, Questlove Supreme, and Philly’s own Love + Grit. Speaking of Philly’s own, we of course were excited to see Philly soul represented this year with performances by Kindred The Family Soul, Eve, DJ Aktive, DJ Diamond Kuts, Adam Blackstone and the highly anticipated State Property reunion (Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Young Gunz, Peedi Crack and Oschino & Sparks).
